General information
Animal cells is a type of eukaryotic cell that are irregular round in shape. It does not have cell wall like that of plants. Instead, it is covered by thin cell membrane.
Cell organelles present in animal cells
- Nucleus
- Mitochondria
- Endoplasmic reticulum
- Golgi apparatus
- Centrosome
- lysosomes
- Vesicles
- Vacuole (generally small or absent)
Organelles that are absent in animal cell
- Cell wall
- Chloroplasts
- Plasmodesmata
- Plastids
- Large central vacuole
Facts on animal cell
- Longest animal cell – Nerve cells
- Largest animal cell – Ostrich’s egg
- Cell is composed of 70% water and 30% with other substances like starch, protein, lipids, fats, minerals etc.
